Book of the Week: Alafair Burke's "Angel's Tip"

Alafair Burke's second book featuring NYPD detective Ellie Hatcher, Angel's Tip, is a skillful procedural that enlivens its serial killer plot with an appealing heroine and a fresh and engaging style. I wasn't that impressed with the first book in the series, but this one is a significant improvement. The last thing the world needs is another serial killer novel, but this books puts the emphasis on the cops and the victims, which makes for a refreshing change. Angel's Tip demonstrates that Burke is a force to be reckoned with in the thriller genre.
